Ideas to steal from #deepveer wedding
One of the biggest weddings of 2018 happened, and
Deepika Padukone & her beau, Ranveer Singh, did NOT disappoint us. The
wedding pictures are gorgeous, and there are not many pictures, but it’s more
than enough for us to already decide what we would want in our weddings!
So if you are getting married in the next 12
months, take out your notepad & pen & jot it down!
Here’s what happened:
- Sabyasachi attended the wedding to personally style the bride &
groom! - The quintessential Sabyasachi couple.
- The wedding festivities begun with a Nandi puja for the bride in
Bengaluru and a haldi ceremony for the groom in Mumbai
- The wedding was in the beautiful and crazily expensive Villa
del Balbianello at Lake Como, Italy.
- On 12th November 2018, a welcome dinner for the guests was followed
by a ring exchange ceremony. The next day was the Sangeet & Mehendi.
- On 14th November, the pair had a Konkani wedding ceremony while
15th November was the Anand Karaj wedding with North Indian traditions.
For #Deepveer inspired wedding
1. The Simple Bridal Hairstyle & Makeup
Celebrity brides have kept it simple & elegant
& we love it (see Anushka Sharma & Neha Dhupia’s
bridal looks). Deepika did not experiment with her hair and makeup,
instead went for the signature “Deepika” looks.
2. Smokey Eye Make up for the bride..Whaaat!
Deepika Padukone wore an intense smokey eye for her
konkani wedding ceremony, it is something most brides shy away from on their
wedding day! She pulled it off amazingly.
Your makeup artist will have to be super careful to
ensure you don’t end up with panda eyes. In photos taken from a bit of a
distance, it does look so dark, hence pick this look after careful
consideration.
It works out well only if
you choose earthy palette for your makeup.
3. The Perfect Bridal Makeup Style To Pair With Red Wedding Lehenga
For the Sindhi ceremony, Deepika wore a Matka silk
red lehenga with a gold high neck blouse and double dupatta.
If you are going to wear a red lehenga, do bookmark
/ pin / save Deepika’s Bridal Makeup look! The nude lips, just a hint of blush
and subtle brown & gold smokey eye with a clean base is wedding magic.
4. Personalise Your Wedding Outfit With Details
You’ve probably heard of the love-story lehenga and
sari, where brides are add their love stories via visual motifs on their
outfits. They’re also adding favourite
quotes & first date images on their bridal mehendi . Deepika’s dupatta, with “Sada Subhagyawati Bhava” sewn onto the
border, is another creative way to add an interesting detail to your wedding
look.
5. The trend of Big Maang Tikkas & Brides
Accessorizing Heavily is not going anywhere
Deepika wore huge maan tikaa on her wedding &
that shows the trend of huge maang tikaas are not going anywhere, yet large Nath compliments it perfectly.
She also added polki and gold chunky bracelets
& a pacheli to her chooda and kaleerey,
& various shapes & sizes of polki rings on all her fingers instead going
for the typical haath phool. If you were second guessing to
accessorize heavily on your wedding day, Deepika’s look says you have no reason
at all to hold back.
6. Add a Statement Matha Patti to
take your final Bridal look to the next level
For the Konkani wedding ceremony, Deepika wore a
pure gold zari Kanjeevaram brocade silk sari (with a
two-headed bird motif) bought from Bengaluru’s Angad Galleria, paired with some
South Indian jewellery.
This Matha Patti, in particular, is one
of the most beauttiful designs we’ve ever seen and it’s a style we all really adore
on brides.
7. Fearlessly wear those chunky bangles & kadas together
Stack ’em , don’t worry about anything! Paired with
her Kanjeevaram sari, the bride looked extravagantly beautiful.
So don’t be afraid to go all out and stack lots of
chunky bangles, bracelets and kadas together. Colour coordinate your bangles.
Deepika kept things in gold, reds, greens with a little hint of white polki.
8. Don’t be afraid to go all out on wedding attire on events like
mehendi
Usually brides don’t go all out on mehendi event
but when all your family members are dressed in Sabhysachi, you tone no event
down.
Point being – if you want to look all “extra bridal”
on your Mehendi, you should go for it Deepika says – why not?!
9. A Simple Chaadar
for Bridal Entry
While we love a beautiful
phoolon ki chaadar design overflowing
with gorgeous blooms, Deepika kept it simple by entering under a
colour-coordinated red dupatta as a chaadar.
10. Give The Groom’s Mehendi Some Meaning
Most grooms prefer simple mehendi designs, but we loved
how Ranveer didn’t go for the typical “Just write my bride’s name”. Instead, he
got her name’s meaning designed on his palm.
11. Grooms Can Wear Head To Toe Red & look crazy handsome!
Ranveer Singh did not hold back. His outfit looked
just as luxurious and decadent as the bride. And boy! Did he rock it!
It shows that grooms can also sport a red and gold
brocade sherwani with a bright embroidered stole, various strings of beads and polki with
a striped
safa, & still look dapper!
12. Style A Red Sherwani The Right Way
Ranveer’s outfit was mainly of gold and red,
traditionally bridal colours, but there were subdued elements which kept his
outfit from looking over the top.
Two Prints? Sure, you can!
He opt for two prints but notice how they both were
NOT embroidered. More safa design ideas.
Jewellery Balances The Look
The most eye-catching part of his entire look - the
single-string Polki necklace with multiple strings of deep maroon beads that
added a textural element to the look.
Heavy Dupatta To Add Depth
Ranveer’s stole was embroidered with gold, and the
border was entirely golden as well. This added another layer of texture to
uplift the whole outfit.
13. Grooms Should Follow Their Natural Style While Picking Wedding
Outfits
Stick to the style that feels most
natural to you. Ranveer loves loud, statement-making outfits and so he chose
his North Indian wedding outfit accordingly. He also very beautifully pulled
off an Anarkali style kurta along with a stylish open jacket for his Mehendi
ceremony.
If you’re someone who generally loves bright
colours, wear it on your wedding functions! And if you like to keep it simple, you’d
be more comfortable if you pick that self-print ivory sherwani over one with
contrasting embroidery. Do what feels right to YOU!
14. Don’t Shy Away From Coordinating Bride & Groom’s Outfits In The
Same Colours (AND Coordinating On All Functions!)
They further pulled their looks together with a
matching gold border on both the bride’s dupatta and the groom’s stole.
In fact, they coordinated their looks on every
single function!
They even coordinated their looks at Grih
Pravesh in Mumbai!
Pin this as an idea of what to wear on your
first day as newlyweds.
15. Choose Simple Bridal Outfits (without embroidery) for Smaller
Functions like Pujas
For the pre-wedding Nandi Puja in Bengaluru,
Deepika wore a simple Sabyasachi kurti in a bright orange
colour.
For smaller functions like a pooja, it’s nice for the
bride to stick to a simple outfit that gives a wedding feel because of the rich
fabric (think Chanderi, silk, organza) and bright colour. Of course, adding
large earrings makes it a classic bridal look, without being over the top.
16. Daytime weddings make for the BEST wedding photographs!
While their wedding ceremonies may have taken place
during daytime hours for different reasons, the fact remains – photographs look
surreal and extra gorgeous when they’re during sunlit hours. If there’s one
wedding decision you make that will, guaranteed, give you beautiful photos,
it’s this – have a morning wedding!
Just look at how stunning the photos have turned
out with the sun providing beautiful light!
17. Wedding Gifts? Ask Guests To Donate To A Charitable Cause
Deepika & Ranveer kept a no-gifts policy, and asked
their guests to donate to Deepika’s Live Love Laugh foundation. If you’re
considering asking guests for “Blessings
Only“, consider directing them to charities
that you like. Indian guests feel awkward about not gifting couples anything,
so this way it’s a win-win for both parties!
18. Solitaire Mangalsutras!
